Dedication Helps Us to Keep Going

Hello friends and welcome back to Dedicate. In the last part of this series, we looked for the qualities of a dedicated person. Today, we talk about why it is important to dedicate. Just like in the last two parts, I will be looking for key words to use later in this series and will put them in bold text as I go.

So why is it important to dedicate our lives to God?

  • it's how we bring honor and glory to the Father

  • we were, in fact, made to dedicate our whole being to Him

  • dedication helps us keep going no matter how difficult things may get

That last bullet point sounds a lot like perseverance. I mentioned this word in the last part and here it is yet again. Let's define it again too. Perseverance: continuing in a course of action without regard to discouragement, opposition, or previous failure.

I guess you could say that perseverance is directly linked to dedication. In fact, you could argue that perseverance comes, not only from turmoil like the Bible says, but more-so from dedication to God when the turmoil hits. I mean think about it: if you are not a Christian and believe this life is the only life there is - wouldn't be harder to gain perseverance when hard times strike? Wouldn't discouragement, opposition, and previous failure weigh you down all the more?

I think it is important in this series to, not only grasp the meaning of dedicate, but also the meaning of perseverance too. Because not only does more perseverance come from dedication, but more dedication can come from perseverance. When you are going through it, don't you feel like you want to be all the more dedicated to God? I feel like these two words, different as they may be, are intertwined.

So what is perseverance?

  • unwavering and determined in purpose

  • understanding that there may be setbacks along the way, but rather than giving up, keep working to overcome them (overcomer anyone?)

  • rooted and grounded in the word of God (unmovable)

I want to be like these definitions say. I want to be an overcomer. I want to be unmovable in my faith. I want to be steadfast in the faith. I want to have steadfast behavior. But we will talk about that in the next blog.

My friends, I hope you have enjoyed this series as much as I have. I know it is pretty different to my other series, but that is exactly what I wanted for Dedicate - it's exactly what I prayed for when planning this series. God has definitely had is hand in this one.
