Deliver - To Rescue; Set Free

Hello friends and welcome back to our theme this month - freedom. I hope you guys had an awesome independence day and I hope you were able to reflect on our freedom, not only the freedom we have in our country but also in the Lord. He has broken chains and has deliberated us from our bondage by dying, and rising from the dead, for us.

Today, I want to look to my concordance for the definition of freedom and see what Google has to say too. But, there is one problem with the concordance - mine doesn't actually define freedom or free. It just has references that are found in the Bible. So, let's find something else in my concordance that will fit for our definition. What about deliver? Deliver - to rescue; set free. Now that we have found this, we can reverse the order:

Freedom - to be rescued or set free by a deliverer.

That, my friends, is true freedom. Our Deliverer is Jesus. We are set free by His bloodshed. Now let's look to Google for more definitions. And just like how I took all of our grace definitions and pointed them to Christ - I will do the same here.

  • The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants.

God has given us free will to be able to act, speak, and think what we want. He knew that sin would slither its way into our lives by giving us this power of decision, but He wanted us to choose Him. Would it have been easier to control our lives so that we do not misstep and to set our path in stone? Sure, but ultimately, He wants us to love Him as much as He loves us. And is love actually love when it is controlled? No. So, God gave us free will, knowing full and well that man would fall.

  • The state of not being imprisoned or enslaved.

We are born slaves to fear, sin, and death, but when we are adopted into sonship with God and born again, then we are free.

  • The state of being unrestricted and able to move easily.

He has deliberated us from our bondage.

  • Unrestricted use of something.

Last year I did Beth Moore's Entrusted series and I can hear her voice saying: You are mighty servant of God entrusted with the gospel to share it with others. I even have the word entrusted painted on a rock in my office to remind me that God entrusted me with His word.

  • the state of not being subject to or affected by (something undesirable).

Ok, now I'm getting excited. I can feel that Holy Ghost fire:

WE ARE NO LONGER SUBJECT TO DEATH WHEN WE ARE IN CHRIST JESUS!

Read that again. And again. Okay, one more time. Okay let's read it with the definition (last time, I promise):

The state of not being subject to or affected by (something undesirable). Fill in those ( ) with death and add we are no longer subject to death when we are in Christ Jesus. Sorry, not sorry, I just love when my writing getting infiltrated by the Holy Spirit.

My friends, let this good news bring a smile to your face, even if you known this for years. Find a refreshed prospective in it today.
