Dropping Helplessness And Sprouting Strength Through Christ
Hello friends and welcome to Blogtober. This year’s concept is an autumnal metaphor that I came up with: In fall, trees drop dry, decaying leaves that are not beneficial to the tree. In the same manner, uswhobelieve, can drop things (at the feet of Jesus) that are not beneficial. And, just as the trees sprout new leaves, we can replace our ‘dead leaves’ with good.
Our ‘dead leaf’ that we can drop today is: Helplessness.
Google defines helplessness as ‘inability to defend oneself’. Well, it’s a good thing we have a defender:
For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.
Psalms 61:3
He is our refuge, so there is no need to fear:
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Psalm 23:4
He is with us and will never leave us:
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
Deuteronomy 31:6
We can now be strong and courageous because of what Jesus did:
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
Romans 5:6
Even when we feel helpless in this world, we have someone there with us – protecting us and comforting us. We may be weak, but He is strong. Our ‘leaf’ of helplessness has fallen away and now we can sprout strength through Christ. Join me today in smiling about that.
There is always joy to be found and joy to be had.
