Find the Joy - Faith Over Fear
Hello friends! I hope you had a lovely Easter. Today, we are going to hop back into our 1 John Series. We left off in Chapter 4, Verse 13.
This how we know that we live in him and he in us; He has given us his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. (Verses 13 - 16)
The sovereignty of the Lord has no boundaries, but goes beyond anything that can fit on a graph paper. His love is like the galaxy, it cannot be measured or contained but rather it is never ending. The love of God cannot compare to the love we have. Only when God is in us, can we have that kind of love for God and for one another. That kind of love cannot come from anywhere else, only from God. And only in Him does the key to love lie. Only in Him does the purpose of life lie.
His is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgement: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. (17 & 18)
His perfect love drives out fear. Fear no longer has hold on us, but sometimes we feel like we are its prisoner. Why? Why let fear control us when all we have to do is call on the name of Jesus to remove it. Fear is a liar it has no power over you. Lay your fears at the feet of Jesus.
What is the worst that could happen on this earth to you? Death? But when you are in Jesus, to die is to gain. We don't really die do we? Don't get me wrong, you will still have fear and situations will be scary. But we can dust fear off of our shoulders thanks to Jesus. We don't have to let it take over our lives. Faith is Over Fear - see how I snuck the name of this blog in? lol.
We love because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother or sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister. (Verses 19 - 21)
"So we fix our eyes on not what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (2 Corinthians 4:18) If we cannot love and appreciate the things and the people we see, how can we love and appreciate the unseen? If we cannot appreciate the temporary life and those who are in it, how can we appreciate the eternal life?
So, find joy in the temporary and look forward to the eternal! We, Uswhobelieve, have double the reason to find joy! We can choose to take advantage of the joy in this short life and look forward to the joy of the next!
Why let fear steal your joy away when you have Jesus, the one who's perfect love can drive out that fear! Why let it waste your short, precious minutes you have? Why not spend those precious minutes finding the joy and grasping hold of it?
