Free Indeed

Hello friends, and welcome back to our theme this month - freedom. Today we continue on our Biblical search for freedom and we will start in 1 Peter:

Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God's slaves.

1 Peter 2:16

Tuesday we talked about not using our freedom for selfish reasons and we add to that today with this verse. We, also, should not use our freedom as a cover-up for evil.

To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

John 8:32

I can't help but wonder if the phrase, 'the truth will set you free', came from this verse. In day to day life, some can be set free by the truth metaphorically, mentally, or emotionally, but it is only God's truth that sets you free physically, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally all at once.

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

John 8:36

The Son sets you free completely as we mentioned above. When I read this verse, I can't help but think of the song 'Who You Say I Am' by Hillsong. "Who the Son sets free, oh, is free indeed. I'm a child of God, yes I am!"

Well, my friends, that's all I have for this week, but next week we will continue on in our endeavor to locate freedom in God's word. Until then, smile; If the Son set you free, you are free indeed. You are chosen, not forsaken.
