He Broke The Shackles And Gave Us Grace
Hello friends! Our grace hunt continues; this time in the book of Romans:
For sin will no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
Romans 6:14
We are no longer shackled to the thing that we do, but do not want to do - sin. No, we are free - we have grace.
But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!
Romans 5:15
Many died by the trespass which happened in the garden, but because Jesus died, we have grace in its place. He took death and replaced it with grace for whosoever to accept it. He broke the shackles. The gift is, indeed, not like the trespass.
Just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 5:21
Sin sticks to death as a pin might stick to a refrigerator magnet, but grace pulls in righteousness like the moon pulls in the tide. Righteousness can only be accredited through faith which can only come to us when we accept the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.
For by the grace given to me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgement, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.
Romans 12:3
We do not earn our own righteousness, it can only be attained by faith, and thus we cannot boast or think of ourselves more highly than others - yes even those who are not called. And I love the last line of this verse: In accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. I think that sums up this blog quite nicely, what do you think?
Well, my friends, we are free from the shackles of sin. We have grace and faith, and thus we have righteousness. If that isn't smile-worthy, I don't know what is.
