He Is Deserving Of Our Serving
Hello friends! Happy Sunday! Today marks the 3rd part of our series on Ephesians. Let's look at verse 7, 'I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God's grace given me through the working of His power,' This really reminds me of Beth Moores' Entrusted book and video series. One of the very first things she say in it is, "We are meant to be mighty servants of God turned loose on this globe in the great name of Jesus." We are meant to serve the Lord. We are meant to share the gift God has given to us. The gospel. I have a painted rock to remind me of that.
Verse 12, ' In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.' I talked about this in yesterday's blog. How we can come to the father freely because of what Christ did for us. Because of the cross. But we have to have faith. I wish I could remember the title of the blog in which I talked more about this, but we are meant to pray to God like we are talking to a friend. We are to have attention on Him and are to be sincere. We can't just say, "Well God, if your even listening, this is what I need." Imagine talking to a friend like that. Wouldn't they be kinda insulted. We must have faith to approach the father.
Verses 14-19, 'For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord's holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.' When we believe, when we ask God to come into our lives, we accept Jesus in our heart. We become rooted in His love. His love that's as deep as the ocean. As wide as any valley. Higher than any mountain. The love that surpasses all knowledge. That love! When we have that kind of love in our lives, we feel full. We feel complete - whole.
Verses 20-21, 'Now to He who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work with in us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever! Amen!' He can do more than our human brains can even imagine. But sometimes we think we're in control. We call the shots. That He should do what we want. But our sense of control is an illusion. God has in place everything for your life. He's a hundred steps ahead of us. He is in control of our lives. All we can do is ask him in prayer for things and be mighty servants. He's deserving of our serving. Another rhyme I know. But He is and He's proved that on the cross. So we can hold on to our control that we think we possess or we can lay it down at the feet of Jesus and ask, "Okay God, What's next?"
God doesn't expect perfection from us. If we strive for perfection; We are going to fall flat on our face. All He wants is love and dedication. And I will spoil it for you now; No one is going to have a perfect score card. But He is there for us. He is our guide. Smile today. Why be filled with anger or depression when you can be filled with His love. It's a good trade. Trust me. Give it to God and He will always give you something better in return. Just trust him. He's holding all the gifts He has for you. He's just waiting for you to accept them. I'm smiling for all the gifts the father has given me. Love, fulfillment, the cross, and many more.
