Look At The Birds And The Flowers
Hello friends and welcome back to the 'My Favorite Verses' series. Last time we went over some of my favorite verses in the book of Psalms, specifically in chapter 139. Today, let's go to a different book! Lets do...Matthew!
Let's see, some of my favorites are, well besides the birth and resurrection of Jesus, are:
Blessed are the peacemakers;
for they will be called children of God.
Matthew 5:9
Be a peacemaker, not a trouble maker, because you produce what you sow. If you sow tulip seeds, you will produce beautiful flowers for all to enjoy, but if you sow white snakeroot, you will produce a toxic plant for all to avoid.
"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:14-16
Let your light shine for you, my friends, are the light of the world - the salt of the earth!
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or story away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you - you of little faith?
Matthew 6:26-30
I love this verse. It is a good reminder to completely trust the Lord with all your soul and all your heart and all your strength, because He will take care of you.
Well, my friends, that is all I have for today, but we will continue tomorrow. This, by all means, is not all of my favorite verses from this book, but we will skip around a bit and cover more ground. Then Thursday we will get back to our regular blogs, but that doesn't mean this series will be over. This will be one that we pick back up from time to time to spice things up.
Smile today, because you are the light of the world and the Father takes care of you.
