Loving Peace
Hello friends and welcome back to our Peace Series! Our search continues!
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5
This, my friends, is how we attained peace - from love. He lost His life, to save ours! He gave us peace by taking, what should have been, our punishment. We're the ones who deserved the suffering of the cross, yet He did it for those who love Him. He did it in a huge statement of love.
"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
Isaiah 54:10
Yesterday we talked about how our peace is established and how it is here to stay. In the same way, His unfailing love for us will not be removed. His unfailing love that He proved on the cross, His unfailing love that resulted in our creation, even though He knew we would invite sin in; His unfailing love which He has LAVISHED on us! That love... It's eternal, eye opening, and keeps me in complete awe of Him.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Matthew 5:9
We, who are adopted into sonship, we are meant to be peacemakers. Not judges, not rabble rousers, or chaos makers. We are meant to show peace because we are established in peace. We are meant to promote peace because our Father's covenant is peace. We are meant to treat people with peace because our Father treats us with Peace!
Oh boy, how many times have I typed peace? It's started to not look like a word anymore.
Well friends, when things start to look chaotic, remember how you attained peace and how it is everlasting. Think of the Father's incredible love for you. When you do, I hope it will raise the corners of your lips.
