Mary’s Song

Hello friends! Welcome back to the twelve days of Christmas (Blog Edition), where we go over the birth of Jesus Christ; the true reason for the season. It is the third day! Today let’s look at Mary’s Song that she sang after she fell pregnant by the Holy Spirit.

Luke 1:46-56 : Mary’s Song

And Mary said:

“My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant.

From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me – holy is his name.

His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation.

He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.

He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble.

He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty.

He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, even as he said to our fathers.”

Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.

What a wonderful praise from Mary to the Lord. Even in her circumstance she says, “The Mighty One has done great things for me.” What a blessed woman. She could have looked at her circumstance in a negative light, but she didn’t. She realized that the Lord picked her, favored her, to be the mother of the one and only Son of God. What an honor!

Friends find something to smile about today. Mary had her purpose as a mighty servant of God and we each have our own unique purposes. So, take your purpose, whatever it may be, and look at it with glee like Mary did. I think there is a lot we can learn from her.
