My Spiritual Gift
Hello friends. We're in part 4 of our 6 part blog series on Ephesians. There is a lot I want to go over in this chapter. I found myself underlining line after line then realized, I have to pick only the things I really want to talk about. If not I'd end up typing up the whole chapter. This chapter is a good one though. Let's hop into it!
Verses 1-3, 'Live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.' Live a life worthy of you're calling. Keep the peace. You're goal is to share the gospel; not to cause uproar. Be respectful of others and patient.
Verses 7-8, 'But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. This is why it says:
'When he ascended on high
he took many captives
and gave gifts to his people."
This is a verse from another book. Psalms 68:18. God gave his people spiritual gifts so we can share the gospel with unique talents. I can't help but feel mine is this. Blogging; writing. I never thought of myself as someone with any talent. But the fact that this could be the talent that Christ himself gave me; Makes me smile. Verses 11-13, 'Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelist, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for the works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and became mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.' He wants us to be built up with faith and knowledge so that we may become spiritually mature.
Verse, 14, 'Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in there deceitful scheming.' Spiritual infancy. When we are not rooted in Christ; We tend to get blown along by the wind. Going with whatever anyone says. We believe in false teachings. Like the teaching of self I've been seeing a lot. Don't get me wrong, take care of yourself and do things just for you sometimes, but don't worship yourself. Don't become self righteous. I do yoga for my shoulders and to keep fit and I find myself correcting my yoga instructor on youtube sometimes. She will say "Thank yourself for being here today." and I say aloud "Thank God for being here today." We need those roots in Christ to keep us from blowing away.
So guys this isn't even half of what I wanted to talk about in this chapter so I'm going to break this chapter into 2 blogs. I guess this will be a 7 part series. I hope you guys don't mind. Keep these things fresh in your mind for tomorrow because later in the chapter we will elaborate on some things. Grow in the faith and knowledge so you can mature spiritually. Plunge your roots in the soil of Christ so you won't be taken to a new mindset with every breeze. Let God shape you're mindset and smile. Find joy in today. This day will never happen again so why not smile?
