Our Saving Grace
Hello friends! Welcome to part 2 of Ephesians. Today I will share with you some of the things that I love about this chapter. I hope you guys are liking this series on my blog thus far. As always let's see what Ephesians chapter 2 holds for us.
Verse 3-6, 'All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath, But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, make us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions-it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.' We were deserving of God's wrath. But because He loves us, because He is merciful, He saved us by grace. Lord knows we didn't deserve it! But He loves us so. And now He has revived us from the dead and brought us to life! And we will be seated at Christ?! We are definitely not deserving of that either.
Verse 8-10, 'For it is by grace you have been saved, though faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.' What a gift! There was nothing we could do that would accomplish what Jesus accomplished on the cross. What we can do is be His hands and feet.
Verse 13-15, 'But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the diving wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out the two, thus making peace.' He died for us. His blood was shed for our profit. The king of kings slain for us who were condemned. The Lord of Lords, nailed to some wood and was left there, for all to see, until He died. For us?! We don't deserve it. I think sometimes we could be struck with the physical wooden cross and still not get it. Our God was tortured for us because He loves us too much for us to be condemned. Humanity can be terrible. This day in age there is proof of that all around us. But He did it. That's astonishing to me.
Verse 17-20, 'He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and stranger, but fellow citizens with God's people and also members of his household. Build on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as chief cornerstone.' Because Jesus died; We have access to the Father and we are His people. Uswhobelieve. That couldn't have happened any other way. And we are meant to be His hands and feet and to seek after His will.
Guys thank Him for the cross. Thank Him for pulling us from the grip of death. He loves you. Go to him. Run into His arms. He's waiting for you. We can't question His love for us. He's proved it already. The one who created you; Spoke you're name before the earth was created. He saved you. Join me in smiling about that today.
