Set Your Sights On Freedom
Hello friends and welcome back to our theme this month - freedom. Tuesday we defined freedom and now we are ready for our biblical hunt for freedom in the Bible. We will also look for words that correspond with freedom like: free, delivered, etc. Let's start with the verse that inspired this entire series:
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
2 Corinthians 3:17
When we read our Bible, when we pray, and even when we carry out our mundane daily tasks - the Spirit of the Lord is there. So, there is freedom too.
For the one who was a slave when called to faith in the Lord is the Lord's freed person; similarly, the one who was free when called is Christ's slave.
1 Corinthians 7:22
We are servants of the Lord when we are called. We aren't even worthy to be called His slaves, and yet, He calls us His children! What love He has lavished on us!
Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.
1 Corinthians 9:19
We are getting down to the nitty gritty right off the bat, my friends. We're talking about what some might not what to hear. The truth of the matter is though, I am not writing to you to tell you what you want to hear but what God wants you to hear.
We are to share the gospel and to lead as many as we can to God. It's not easy. You could spread the gospel to a hundred people and not touch one heart. But in the process, you could also lead a lost soul home and help in the saving of a life - the glory all goes to God though.
So, my friends, go out there and be mighty servants of God (and Mighty Children of God!) And smile! You who are in Christ Jesus are free, redeemed. Set your sights on freedom, not only your own, but the freedom that you just might be able to spread to others.
