Splendid Unique Ambience

Hello friends! Welcome back to 30 Days of Gratitude. Today is Monday, so you know what that means. I add two things I am grateful for every Monday and Friday, but my friends, today I have 5! I am thankful for the five senses; sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch. God could have made man without any of these; so I am grateful. I know some in this world do lack one or more of these senses. We all have our own challenges in life.

I lack vision in one eye so, although I know it cannot compare to someone who completely lacks one sense, I get it. I understand the frustration, the judging whispers from others that aren't quiet enough, and the struggle. I will cover this more in another blog. I will say that I am thankful for what I do have.

SIGHT: I am thankful that I can see the beauty that God created. The blue sky that He placed there. The green grass, every blade handcrafted by Him. The tall mountains that He can move. The shimmering water in the sea, in lakes, in creeks, in streams, in babbling brooks. The beautiful trees, their leaves blowing in the wind. The sandy shores and the vast blue sea. Every color in the crayon box; He used them all.

SMELL: I am thankful for my sense of smell. That I can smell the flowers, the greenery outside, the wind. The smell of freshly baked cookies or pie. The smell of clean laundry. The aroma of essential oils, candles, and perfume. Everyone I love seems to have a certain smell that only pertains to that person. I am thankful that I get to experience that.

HEARING: I am thankful for my ability to hear. That I can hear the wind rustling through the trees and chimes. I can hear my loved ones speak and sing. I can hear babies laughing and bird singing. That I can hear the magnitude of various sounds that each of God's creatures create. Water flowing, splashing, and babbling. Bacon sizzling, bees buzzing, crickets chirping. And that I can hear those tender whispers of love.

TASTE: I am thankful for my sense of taste. That I can taste fruit and vegetables, each having a completely different taste. Baked goods like pie, cookies, brownies, and cakes. That I can experience all the different flavors that God invented, just for us. Just for us to be able to experience food on a whole new level.

TOUCH: I am thankful for the sense of touch. That I can feel the lush grass. The roughness of tree bark and wood. The feeling of a loved ones hand. The smoothness of stones. The soft fur of animals and blankets. The texture of this world. Everything has a specific texture, unique.

I wonder if God created everything visually at first, but then decided there needs to be more. Everything must have a unique aroma, a sound, a texture, a taste; an ambience or aura. I am thankful that I can experience that unique ambience. This is why nature in virtual reality will never be the same.

I think all of this proves that there is always, ALWAYS, something to be thankful for. Next time you say, my life is awful or there is no reason to smile, just picture yourself without the 5 senses that God has given you. After that , surely you can thank of something then to smile about. Whether its 'I can see the sunrise' or 'I can hear the ocean waves'. So find something to be thankful for today and smile because your God is good. I am smiling right now, just looking out my window at this tree with it's leaves blowing in the breeze, feeling the smooth keys on my keyboard, smelling my lavender candle, and even hearing my loud air conditioner.
