The Garment Of Humility
Hello friends and welcome back to our Submission Series. Today, we will continue on in our Biblical hunt for submission.
We have two key words for today's blog: submit & humility.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
When we trust God, we don't have to understand. We can just trust, and submit, and He will do the rest.
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
Colossians 3:12
Put on garments such as these. You are chosen, loved, and sealed with a kiss.
Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches honor and life.
Proverbs 22:4
The wages are life. Real life, purposeful life, and life full of love.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interest but each of you to the interest of others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who being in very nature God, did not consider himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death - even death on a cross!
Philippians 2:3-8
Jesus humbled Himself when He took on flesh. If He, the King of kings, can do that, then we should be able to humble ourselves too (put on the garment of humility). Jesus showed us how to act, think, and speak, all we have to do is follow what He did.
Well, my friends, I hope I have inspired you to put on the garment of humility and to smile.
