We Cannot Submit To Something Out Of Our Focus

Hello friends and welcome back to our Submission Series. Today we begin our hunt for submission in the Bible, but with a twist. For this series, I'm going to be focusing on verses that are specifically about submitting to God with key words such as submission/submit/submitting, obey/obedience, and humility/humble. Today we will start with the key word submit.

Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you. Accept instruction from his mouth and lay up his words in your heart.

Job 22:21-22

On of the blogs in our Peace Series was called 'Lay Up Peace'. The title was inspired by this verse right here. Who knew that peace and submission was so close knit? When we submit to God, prosperity will come our way.

The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.

Romans 8:7

When we are so flesh minded or blinded by earthly mentality, we cannot submit to God or His law. It is only when we look heaven bound and put on a heavenly mentality that we can submit to Him because we cannot put all our eggs in one basket when we aren't even looking at the basket. Our metaphorical eggs would be smashed. In other words, we cannot submit to something out of our focus.

But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble." Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

James 4:6-7

He gives us more grace... He shows favor to the humble... Submit then. Submit your life to God because His plans are always better than ours.

What an awesome God we serve. He is worthy of praise, He is worthy of our focus, and He is worthy of our submission. Has He been out of focus for you? How can you shift your focus back to Him? What is your priority? All of these questions are hard ones.

Good news, you don't have to have all the answers to submit to Him. When we trust Him, we don't have to understand. As I write these words, I can hear God saying, "I am the God of truth and love. Whoever comes to me receives." For a moment there, a few seconds, I was waiting for Him to finish. Receives what? But He doesn't need to finish that. Whoever comes to Him receives, not just love and not just the truth, but more than that. He will give you what you need exactly when you need it.

I hope you will join me today as I smile about that. He gives us what we need, which is, in fact, ALL WE NEED.
