What Truly Matters?

Hello friends! Welcome back to 30 Days of Gratitude. Today I am thankful for God. I am thankful that I am chosen, forgiven, marked, sealed, sacred. I'm thankful for my relationship with Him. That He created me. That He knew me before I was born. That He spoke my name before the earth's creation. Before one word of the Bible was written. Before the creation of humans. Before there the sun, moon, and stars were placed in the sky. My name passed through His lips.

I am thankful that I am His child. That I can call Him Abba, Father. That I can hear those tender whispers of love. That He gives me knowledge and understanding as the days pass. That I undoubtedly believe in the one true God. The king of kings, the Lord of lords, the most high. I am thankful that the one true God loves me and has called me. That He breathed breath in my lungs.

When I look at all these things, I realize that not much else matters. What people think of me doesn't matter. My physical limitations don't matter. All that matters is what God thinks of me. He thinks highly of me even though I am dirty. I am a sinner. I am not perfect. I make mistakes. I do not hold up to society's standard of beauty. He thinks highly of me because He loves me and I love Him. Because I follow Him and believe in Him. Who am I that it could be? That God created me and loves me.

It's easy to look at the lack there of. The things I lack. I'm not rich. I don't have too many friends. I never had loving parents. I don't have sight in both eyes. But what about what I do have? I have a loving husband and family. My few friends love me and don't judge me. I have a roof up above me. I have food on my table and shoes on my feet. I have Him. That my friends is the purpose of the next 30 days here on my blog. To thank God for the things we do have and remember that the lack there of doesn't matter. Love is the only thing that matters. As love as you love Him, love others, and love what you do and who you are. Nothing else compares. So thank Him for something today. Smile about something today. Today I am smiling because I am loved by the King.
