He builds us up

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast.

1 Peter 5:10

Hello friends! Welcome back to Blogtober! Today is day twenty. Our comfort today is that God builds us up. You may be asking what exactly that means. Well, think of it as a house being built.

When you build something up (in this example a house) you:

1. ESTABLISH:

You establish the grounds. Secure the right place before building.

2. FIRM FOUNDATION

3. You create a firm foundation that will last.

4. STABILITY:

You put support beams in place to insure stability

5. STRENGTHEN:

You strengthen the walls with bricks so that…

6. ENDURE:

…the exterior is will endure through the storms.

7. RESTORE:

You restore any damages the house may undergo.

8. PROSPER:

When you do all this, your house will prosper.

So, know we have some idea of what it means to be built up, let’s confirm it with God’s word:

Establish:

Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past. Romans 16:25

He establishes us in His gospel. The gospel is the grounds in our metaphorical house.

Firm Foundation:

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 3:11

He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:8

Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 2 Corinthians 1:21

Our firm foundation is Jesus Christ. Jesus is in our hearts, so we are sealed. It the only foundation that will last.

Stability:

Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall, and they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand. Romans 14:4

God is our support beam. With Him, we will not fall.

Strengthen:

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

God strengthen us and will uphold us with His right hand (Jesus). He is the armor that will be the bricks that will strengthen our exterior from the storms.

Endure:

“As the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure before me,” declares the LORD, “so will your name and your descendants endure.” Isaiah 66:22

We will endure with everlasting life. No storm can truly kill us when we have God.

Restore:

Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depth of the earth you will again bring me up. Psalm 71:20

Just like how our metaphorical house will undergo damage; we will have troubles and hard times, but God will restore us.

Prosper:

Carefully follow the terms of this covenant, so that you may prosper in everything you do. Deuteronomy 29:10

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full. John 10:10

And finally, He will prosper us. He did not just create us just to live but to prosper!

There you have it, friends. He will build you up so that no matter what happens in your life, you are safe in the Father’s fold. Nothing can truly harm us because we have the true solid foundation that is Jesus Christ our savior. So, smile and find comfort in that today. He will build you up and restore you when you feel broken down. You were made to prosper and thrive.
