He Is Forgiving

Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever, but delight to show mercy.

Micah 7:18

Hello friends! Welcome back to Blogtober! Today is day fourteen. Our comfort today is God is forgiving. Curl up with THE good book and follow along.

We are sinners and undeserving of forgiveness. But:

The LORD is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion. Numbers 14:18

And because He loves us so much and He is such a forgiving God; He sent his son, Jesus, down to die so now our sins are washed away with his blood:

For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:13-14

Jesus saved us by dying on the cross for our sins:

“This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” Matthew 26:28

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. Ephesians 1:7

And even when He was hanging on the cross slowly bleeding to death:

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34

Thanks to Jesus we are now washed white:

“For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” Hebrews 8:12

Now that we are forgiven; we are meant to forgive others and to strive to be like Christ:

Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you have a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:13

And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive your sins. Mark 11:25

So, watch yourselves, if your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them: and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to saying ‘I repent’; you must forgive them. Luke 17:3

Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32

After all, our God is the God of compassion. Take comfort in that today. Jesus paid our debt. Smile about that today. You are washed white. You are forgiven. You have a clean slate, so what are you going to do with it?

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgression from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him. Psalms 103:11-12
