We are His Children
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
1 John 3:1
Hello friends! Welcome back to Blogtober! Today is day six. Our comfort today is that we are God’s children. And what a comforting thought! Today’s post is going to be a little longer, but I really wanted to break down some verses with you. So, let’s get started.
John 1:12-13: ‘Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God - children born not of natural decent, nor of human decision or husband’s will, but born of God.’ He gave us the right; we did not earn it ourselves. He loves us so much that He wants us to be known as his children. As soon as we accept Jesus as our Lord and savior, we automatically become one His children.
Romans 8:14-15: ‘For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again rather, the Spirit you receive brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”’ Being a child of God doesn’t mean that we are slaves. It means we are adopted by Him. It means we can call him our Father. Isn’t that amazing?
Verse 8:16-17: ‘The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs - heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.’ Not only are we able to have that noble name of His children, but we are also heirs. We share in His glory. Guys He didn’t have to do that. But He did. Why? He loves us. Humanity can be terrible. We don’t deserve to be called His children; much less do we deserve to share in His glory. But He lavished us with his love.
Take comfort in knowing, YOU ARE HIS CHILD. He loves you. He has adopted you if you have accepted Christ into your life. You share in His GLORY! Smile about that today.
